An Apology

A thousand apologies to you, I owe

who’s heart I broke and broke and broke!

All I meant to say was- Sorry,

but I gave explanations when we last spoke.

I still hear your voice in my head

when I think of what you might say.

You have always been my guiding star,

quite like Eklavya and his Dronacharya.

I know how deeply I’ve hurt you

and let you down…

That I have caused you pain,

is my grief, profound.

Please, please won’t you forgive me.

I’m so sorry, your pain is mine to bear.

I’ve been so consumed with guilt,

I cannot think of you without sadness and tears.

If only I could go back in time

and make all the wrongs, right.

My heart, that is burdened so

would feel somewhat light.

I must be the only person in the world

who doesn’t know how to apologise,

but I will try and try again

I’m not giving up, question does not arise.

Give me a chance to make amends,

this is my one and only plea.

Losing you has been the most difficult to bear,

do you think you could ever forgive me?

I know I have to work hard to earn your trust,

what we had was so divine.

I could never, never let you go,

with all my love and gratitude for your time.
